Serious erosion and siltation on the Rajang














Will the longest river in Malaysia,the 560km Rajang,be chocked to death by tons and tons of wood debris, domestic and industrial wastes as well as the serious siltation?The above pictures were taken along the Rajang near Kapit, Kanowit and Sibu. Erosion, siltation, ....are the natural process. We cannot stop the nature from doing what it wants. Logging perhaps accelerated the whole process

Haiya! kuat teruklah ini macam keadaan berlaku di Btg Rejang, Sibu.

Nampaknya kempen "Cintailah Sungai Kita" yang dianjurkan oleh pihak Lembaga Sungai-Sungai Sarawak masih belum berjaya lagi.

my comment came late but it's better to be late than never.
Yes, the Rejang River is choking years ago. IN 1981 I worked for a bank just next to River Rejang at The Temple of Sibu and each day, I still see the clear water but definitely not now though I dont work there... I used to travel to Kanowit and when I saw the situation, I could only shake my head in awe as when in early 60"s time I visited my uncle there, the water is clear cut!

I hope my once dreamt wont come true one day we walk across Rejang River!!!!!
