New Sarawak Legislative Assembly Building, Regatta and Rulers' Conference

Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah.

Our very own down-to-earth Governor, Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng

Do you remember this guy...the Menteri Besar of Terengganu? He looks simple and humble.

Sabah's Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman

Is he looking at me? Sarawak's Chief Minister, Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud

Patrol boats and jetskis from the Marine Department and Police were congesting the Sarawak River before and during the regatta

The regattas were organised as part of the celebration for the opening of the new Sarawak Legislative Assembly Building and the 218th Meeting of the Conference of Rulers.

The RM300 million new Sarawak Legislative Building was officially declared open by the Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin on July 27, 2009.

The 218th Meeting of the Conference of Rulers was held on the 8th floor of this iconic building on July 28 and 29.

The Agong, accompanied by Sarawak's Governor and Chief Minister, arrived at the Kuching Waterfront in a boat to see a colourful river float procession and a spectacular display of fireworks on the evening of July 27.

Look at the smoke!!! I really don't see why they MUST have fireworks! Save the environment! After all, they have banned it for Chinese New Year - Leadership by example!!! Tsk! Tsk!

Philip: Fireworks photos quality are still acceptable. I will only be back on mid November. Most probably by that time, I would join you all. :)

Those police in the river, just a demonstration. The leaders are not important world leaders, so no terrorists would want to pick on them.
