After 32 years....

Andrew Wong (middle) came back from KK yesterday and he was generous enough to foot the bill for tonight's very wonderful dinner at Blue Splendeour Restaurant.

Both Peter Lau (right) and Bala studied in Australia after their secondary education in Sibu.
Like most of us, Teck Mee (above right) also has not seen Bala for more than 30 years. At left is Mrs Bala.

After a year of planning and waiting, the much anticipated reunion of Class of 73/75/77 of Sacred Heart Secondary School, Sibu, on April 4 is finally approaching. Tonight the organizing committee held a pre-reunion dinner for our long lost classmate, Bala Murali. Bala returned to Sibu today from Perth after leaving his birth place for 32 years. He is currently the Director of Policy,Office of Native Title, Department of Treasury and Finance, Perth, Australia. " It is my first visit to Sibu after more than three decades and this afternoon I visited the original site of Lau King Howe hospital where I was born" Bala said. The old hospital has been demolished to give way to the construction of Sibu Town Square.Bala still has good and fond memories of Sibu where he grew up near the Hindu temple beside the prisons. Bala left Sibu with shoulder length long hair and he surprises us today with a shiny blad head. The reason for going blad he reckons, is perhaps the change of lifestyle after he ceased being a vegetarian. Response to the reunion dinner is reasonably good as compared to the last one held in 2003. About 70 classmates will attend this saturday's dinner together with our former principal Bro. Albinus and some teachers.
