The Borneon Black Tree

Have you ever seen a black tree?. Here are two pictures of the "Kayu Malam" (Ebenaceae Diospyros Elliptfolia) which in Bahasa Malaysia means wood of the night. This tree species is not common although it does exist sparingly in the lowalnd and undulating hills of the Borneon rainforests. Kayu Malam is a small tree but its timber is very hard . The wood which has very striking grain is normally used in the furniture industry.
