The Dragon Fruit

In Asia the Dragon Fruit or Pitaya was first introduced to Vietnam from America by some American soldiers fighting the Vietnam war. Its presence in Malaysia is a rather recent event. However now this unique fruit is popularly grown throughout the country. When ripen, the fruit is pink to reddish in colour. The juicy pulp is either white or red with countless small edible seeds. The Dragon Fruit can be easily cultivated but it is known to consume big amount of fertilizer for healthy growth and bountiful harvest. There is also Dragon Fruit wine available in Malaysia now.
