The Tamu

One common, yet very unique feature throughout East Malaysia is the presence of the Tamu or the native jungle produce markets in all the small towns, big cities and even at some major road junctions along the highway. The Tamu is usually only open on Saturday and Sunday, hence it is also known as Sunday Market. It is normally very colourful, noisy and it sells everything from wild vegetables to fruits, wild flowers, livestock, fish, prawn, wild animals such as snake, squirrel, turtle, bat, insect, worm, herbal medicines etc etc etc...the list goes on and on.
