How To Identify A Forest Tree

The most easy way to identify a forest tree is to recognize its leaves. The shape of the leaves that is. Other ways include the identification of the bark, the root, the smell of the leaf and wood. Our Forest Rangers in the national parks are all well trained to identify the hundreds of different species of trees and plants in the tropical rainforests. They also have to be familiar with the quality and uses of many of the species. Many of the indigenous people who dwell in the forests are also expert in knowing the tree species and their uses, particularly those possessing medicinal properties.
