Sarawak's first Chief Minister

Two of these politicians had passed away many years ago. From left to right are Sarawak's first Chief Minister and former President of Sarawak National Party (SNAP), Datuk Stephen Kalong Ningkan (1963-1966) In the middle is Datuk Amar James Wong (retired Minister and past president of SNAP ) and at right is Datuk Edward Jeli, one of the past Sarawak State Ministers from SNAP. SNAP was a multi racial party but the majority of its members were the Ibans. The Party had several serious crises and many of its leaders formed new political parties including Parti Bangsa Dayak. Both SNAP and Parti Bangsa Dayak were now de-registered. SNAP still fields a handful of independent candidates in this election. I salute some of my friends who still remain as loyal SNAP "members" until today. They are Johnny Wong Sie Lee, Datuk William Lau, Datuk Wong Kie Yek, Hii Ching Chiong and Tang Nguong Sik.
