Featherless Drake

Birds of the same feather flock together....this bird ( a drake) has no feather and he is therefore a loner. You might think someone has plucked all his feathers, but I swear, he is naturally naked from day one.The rare and funny drake belonged to friend who said its age was about a year old when I took this photo in 1983. The owner said she did not know why the drake was featherless, adding that it was already featherless when she bought it when it was just a week old. At first she thought it would not survive long. Strange enough it did and it was extremely clean all the time. His other friends who had white shinning feathers always tried to avoid him....must be doubtful if he were actually one of them. The drake lived for 3 years. He died perhaps of illness.
